Mind & Soul
Among the many, shiny new habits we can embrace for personal wellbeing, I always find myself circling back to the most important relationship of all… with my intuition.
It takes just as much practice as anything else that you want to improve upon, but how do we quiet our mind enough to even listen to our inner voice? How do we tell the difference between what our gut is saying over our buzzing thoughts?
Now, I’m talking about making decisions as small as what playlist you want to hear to as big as your career moves. Start by setting sacred, non-social-media-scrolling boundaries, find a quiet spot and dedicate just a few minutes to be totally present with yourself. Notice… what are the things you look forward to the most in your day or week? These are the things you will prioritize and continue to make time for, so listen… and choose carefully!
You’re taking the first step toward being honest with yourself and your priorities. Are you ready for what you truly desire?
My favorite Morning Ritual:
-Make a kettle of water for my French Press, because I do enjoy morning coffee.
-Light my rose quartz candle to set the tone for positive, loving energy.
--After washing my face, use a jade gua-sha tool for relieving tension and increasing circulation.
-Choose a roll-on essential oil scent for mood-enhancing aroma vibes.
-Take a meditative moment (honestly, just a couple of minutes is enough) while breathing deeply. I like to visualize an event or movement that I plan to do in the day with my ideal result or execution, then close with a feeling of gratitude.
For my Evening Ritual:
-I love to begin the mental process of unwinding with a big mug of hot tea. Even though I’ve never needed any help sleeping, I really look forward to the magically soothing indigo color of butterfly tea to set the tone.
-When there’s time for an epsom salts and baking soda bath (and to make sure I stay in there long enough), I set the tone with one of the gorgeously guided meditations by Colette Baron-Reid on her Mindful Living app. Nothing hits the spiritual reset button quite like it.
-When I can sneak in a little quiet time, I’m really enjoying A Still Small Voice by Echo Bodine.
-I’m a firm believer in the benefits of aromatherapy, so I rely on this quality diffuser. Either lavender or breathe essential oil goes in to clear and calm the air all through the night.
